This version of the cube was watched over King Kanai, whose ghost appears and bears the same armor set that Kevin used for his barbarian character. The Kanai Cube is named after Kevin, and also serves a follow up to the Haradric Cube first seen in Diablo II. Blizzard has decided to show their love for a friend and coworker by introducing in Patch 2.3.0 the Kanai Cube and the Barbarian Temple, two features Kevin wanted to see brought into the game. Sadly, he passed away due to a rare cancer called Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS) on October 17, 2014. As of patch 2.3.0, it always rolls a guaranteed socket.Kevin Kanai Griffith was a developer who joined Blizzard to help with World of Warcraft's Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Mists of Pandaria expansions, as well as working on Diablo III. This is one of the few Legendary items in game that cannot be extracted into Kanai's Cube. Since it automatically binds to the player's account upon being made and requires materials only obtainable at level 70, it is unobtainable without access to Reaper of Souls. Passives also do not duplicate if taken normally and on the amulet. Each passive skill only works for the class that normally has it: one cannot use this amulet to gain a passive skill of another class. The passive skill cannot be re-rolled once an amulet is crafted, so it may be very challenging to get an optimal combination of the skill and stats. The Hellfire Amulet essentially gives the character five passive skills: it will have a secondary legendary affix that provides a randomized passive skill of the class who crafted it. It rolls stats for level 70, but only requires character level 1 to be equipped. The Hellfire Amulet is a craftable legendary amulet in Diablo III.
